Infrared answer to impotence | Higher education | The Guardian
For men suffering from erectile dysfunction, there is hope. A new study shows that an infrared laser treatment can help them regain their ability to have spontaneous erections.
The study, conducted by researchers from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, found that men who received five minutes of irradiation on their penis’ tip were able to get spontaneous erections after two weeks of the treatment.
“We are excited about these results because this is a completely non-invasive procedure that does not require surgery or pills,” said lead researcher Dr. Brian L. Lees. “We believe it could help many people struggling with erectile dysfunction.”
The study included 24 male patients who were given an infrared light treatment for five minutes each day for two weeks. The patients reported having spontaneous erections within two weeks of beginning treatment and increased penis length after three months of continuing treatment.
